Shared Histories, Shared Features

The goal of the project is to strengthen collective memory and give voice to stories that are often left out of mainstream history. It focuses on the shared experiences of both Roma and non-Roma—from the Holocaust through cultural and civic life under communism to the present day. A dynamic digital archive will be created to preserve 24 oral histories and offer new perspectives on the shared history of Central Europe.

From data to insight – from art to learning

The project combines qualitative research with the participatory artistic method of the Theater of the Oppressed to clearly illustrate how stigma and other manifestations of anti-Roma sentiment affect the mental health of Roma men and women in the Czech Republic, while also fostering a safe public dialogue on reproductive health.

The Romani Cultural Scene for the 21st Century – A Cultural Platform and Advocacy Pillar

The project “Roma Cultural Scene for the 21st Century – Cultural Platform and Advocacy Pillar” promotes the equal representation of Roma culture in the Czech public sphere and cultural policy. The project aims to create a sustainable platform that will formulate strategic recommendations, defend the rights of cultural actors, and support equal access to the arts.

Support for Housing the (LGBT) Roma Community in Need of Housing

The project addresses the housing crisis faced by the queer Romani community, who face multiple forms of discrimination. It is based on the “Housing First” principle and provides financial, legal, practical, and psychological assistance. Collaboration with landlords and public institutions is key to overcoming prejudice and ensuring sustainable housing.

European Roma Young Theater Artists and Facilitators 4 Inclusion and Empowerment

As part of this project, we will establish an international network of 30 young artists and facilitators from diverse backgrounds and provide them with comprehensive training to help them understand European values and their relevance to Romani communities, as well as Romani drama. Through the presentation of plays and videos on social issues and Romani dramatic heroes, followed by workshops for 1,000 of their peers, they will compile a substantial collection of stories and opinions related to the targeted themes and create six new works of art inspired by the young people’s contributions. The performances, videos, exhibition, and publication will reach a wide audience of young people both domestically and at an international festival. Video recordings of artistic performances, six case studies on the process of domestic work, along with an evaluation report and policy recommendations, will be shared with 800 experts and policymakers across Europe, who will be inspired to work toward utilizing youth art and non-formal education.

The project aims to take our organization to new heights through a series of key changes. We expect that implementing this project will lead to greater stability and future growth for the organization, including the recruitment of new staff. This is essential for more effectively supporting the inclusion of the Romani minority in mainstream society, including the high-quality presentation of Romani art and culture. By strengthening our team’s skills in areas such as organisational and cultural management, fundraising, platform development, marketing, PR, and more, we expect our employees to be equipped not only with general skills but also with specific knowledge. These new competencies will enable the entire organisation to grow so that it can more effectively fulfil its core activities and mission in the areas of Roma integration into society and the defense of the rights of the Roma LGBTQI minority.
